Production Assistant/Sub Editor part-time

Pulse, the leading magazine for south Asian arts, is being relaunched this summer. The Production Assistant/Sub Editor will play a vital role in supporting the production, delivery and commercial development of the magazine. Experience of working in a publishing environment is essential.  Two days per week, £8,000.

A freelance Project Manager is required to manage specific projects including the annual Kadam International Summer School and provide general administrative support on a flexible basis.

Call for Proposals:

B.C. Buds: a Spring Arts Fair

The Firehall Arts Centre is pleased to announce the fourth annual B.C. Buds:
A Spring Arts Fair to be held May 16th thru 18th, 2008 at the Firehall.
For three days in May, the Firehall will present theatre, dance, music and
interdisciplinary artists in performances which will take place in the theatre, on the
outdoor stage, in the courtyard, studio, stairwells, offices and the many nooks and
crannies of the heritage arts centre.
BC Buds provides an opportunity for artists to try out new works and re-cultivate existing works while giving audiences an opportunity to explore and experience the arts in informal and unorthodox settings. All performances will be free.
B.C. Buds will pay a fee to artists for their work and will provide travel and
accommodation for out of town artists. A programming committee will work with
those applicants selected to determine the best on site location for their proposed
work.

What kinds of work are we in search of?
•    Works from all performing arts disciplines will be considered.
•    Works in length from five minutes to twenty minutes.
•    Works that can be staged in non-traditional ways in non-traditional
theatrical locations. For example: stairwells, offices, outdoor courtyard
area, on the fire pole.
•    Some programming suitable for children / families

Who can apply?
Applicants must be residents of British Columbia and must be actively pursuing a
Professional career in their artistic discipline. Individuals, companies, collectives
are all eligible to apply.

For the past 20 years, Green Candle Dance Company has been working for and with older people in dance. Now, with the help of a three year award from City Bridge Trust, they are able to set up a new post with responsibility for this hugely important and growing area of the company’s work.
The post will involve practical teaching, facilitating and choreographing dance with older people within a range of settings, as well as fostering, developing and managing new and existing projects and partnerships.

Employment details:
Part time: 3 days per week (21 hours per week)
Dates: starting 1 April 2008 (or as soon after this as possible)
Salary: up to £23,500 (depending on skills and experience)
Holiday: 25 days paid holiday per annum in addition to Bank Holidays

They are looking for a male or female dance artist who has:

  • completed professional training in contemporary dance, to degree-level or equivalent – (additional experience of popular or non-western dance forms an advantage)
  • have at least 2 years regular teaching experience leading dance with both active and frail older people
  • excellent teaching ability with older adults (60+) of diverse abilities and backgrounds
  • has strong project leadership and project management skills
  • sound and up-to-date awareness of the protection of vulnerable adults and children, equal opportunities, health and safety and safe dance practice
  • good office and IT skills and a good standard of literacy including the ability to write reports
  • good communication and advocacy skills
  • a strong commitment to Equal Opportunities and community dance practice
  • a warm, cheerful and flexible disposition and highly professional attitude

Job: Choreographer (Over 50s),Gold, Darlington December 23, 2007

Looking for someone to help choreograph a 3 minute dance film working with over 50s in Darlington. Rehersal on Sat 2nd of Feburary and film on the 3rd of Feburary. Many of those involved have limited mobility. The work will be broken down into small dance units for couples which last a few seconds and a routine involving all partiipants at the end of the day. They will have shopping trolleys which will need to be incoporated. The work will also be filmed in a public square in front of the public. Must be easy going and willing to fit in to the needs of the film.

COMMUNITY DANCE ARTIST(S) REQUIRED BY DARE DANCE

DARE DANCE seeks to appoint a community dance artist (or a team of two community dance artists on job share) to deliver a one year contract in the Borough of Barrow in Furness, Cumbria.

DARE DANCE is an artist-led initiative, based in Barrow in Furness, developing dance through projects at both community and professional level.

This is an initial one-year contract to start in January 2008.  The post will be 37.5 hours per week and salary will be £18’000 p/a.  

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and energetic individual/team who can bring dance to the heart of this community; working with a range of participants in a variety of forms and providing effective management and administration of our Community & Education Programme. 

Applicants should have experience of teaching dance in community and educational settings.  Regular weekly classes include Parent & toddlers, infants, juniors and youth groups in Contemporary and Urban Styles, DARE 2 Youth Dance Company a new initiative funded by ACE: NW and Aim Higher, delivery of BTEC National Diploma dance units and after-school dance clubs.  Special events include the County Schools Dance Festival in partnership with Cumbria Sport, education residencies, INSET training and Community Dance Shows.
